DRC Films, LLC has released a new live-action drama on DVD titled, “Pilgrim’s Progress: Journey to Heaven.” This is a modern adaptation of John Bunyan’s beloved classic which some consider the top Christian fantasy of all time. The novel has been published in over 100 languages and heralded as a literary masterpiece. Director/Writer Danny Carrales reports that the film has…

“…amazing visual effects, beautiful locations and a wonderful cast that bring to life the story that has inspired each generation for hundreds of years. Follow Christian and his companions on a great Journey from the City of Destruction to the gates of Heaven as they face obstacles large and small, man-made and demon-spawned.

Beyond the gripping drama, Bunyan’s powerful allegory teaches us all the hazards and hopes of the Christian life, and it features the triumphant glory that awaits all who faithfully follow the King of kings!”

The lead role (“Christian”) is played by Daniel Kruse who has appeared in “The Gathering” and “Escape from Hell,” and “Dead Presidents.” Playing “Evangelist” is Hugh McLean of “Late One Night” and TV’s “7th Street Theater: Going and Coming.” The cast also includes Philip Keith, Reid Dalton, Chris Gulluscio, Ray Hammack, MaryBeth Hampton, Eric Holloway, Sieglinde Irby, David Partie, Joshua Daniel Solovskoy, Micah David Solovskoy, Larry Welborm, and Peggy Welborm. James Burgess of did the cinematography and editing. Carrales says that…

“A great deal of prayer, hard work and tears went into the making of this movie. The locations, both interior and exterior, seemed endless. Many characters required special effects makeup and design… The story required hundreds of props including: Christian’s helmet, swords, shields, spears, bows, arrows, the Cross, ropes, the jaw of a donkey, fire, shackles, scrolls, skulls, bones, walking canes and much, much more.

…Then, there were the locations and action sequences that required many computer generated effects such as: Fire from heaven, Apollyon’s fiery darts, Faithful’s fiery chariot, fiery sword, demonic creatures, lions, the Valley of the Shadow of Death, dragons, fire balls, Doubting Castle, hell and heaven—just to name a few.

The goal was to stay as faithful to the book and its’ Gospel message as possible. At this time, over 6,000 people have seen the film in test screenings, with over 200 people surrendering their lives to Jesus. It is humbling to know that God is using the film for His glory, and it’s just getting out of the starting gate.”

The DVD is licensed for home-use only, unless a public showing license is purchased. A Church Showing Site License is available, as well as a Small Group License. The later covers use in groups smaller than 50 people in average weekly attendance, Christian schools, and existing chaplain programs.
