Smugglers Ransom, behind the scenes

Noa/Rice Digital has sold the distribution rights for Smugglers Ransom to Cloud Ten Pictures. Cloud Ten will be releasing the film nationally on June 6th through its Cloud Ten Church Cinemas program, followed by a DVD release on June 10th. Smugglers Ransom has screened at multiple film festivals across the United States and has received multiple award nominations including Best Supporting Actress and Best Produced Screenplay.

Journalist Hanna Rosin commented that the film, keeps your heart racing, and Alex Harris, of the Rebelution movement, praises star Anthony Tyler Quinns performance as superb! Quinn, whos resume includes roles on TV shows like Melrose Place and Boy Meets World, believes that filmmakers who are Christians should make the best films and was thrilled to be a part of Smugglers Ransom after first reading the screenplay, co-written by Brandon Rice and Daniel Noa based on a short story by Steve Losee.

The film was independently produced by Noa and Rice in the summer of 2006 on a micro-budget. Principle photography was a short five days in the Santa Clarita Valley and Lancaster, CA. After the film was completed in the spring of 2007, Noa and Rice approached several Christian companies, including Cloud Ten, with the film.

Were excited to be working with Cloud Ten Pictures; clearly one of the leaders in the Christian film industry comments Rice, who is currently working on his second feature No Greater Love.

Im just glad that people are finally going to be able to see it, comments Noa, we put a lot of hard work into getting this film from script to screen, and I am thrilled that its going to be viewed and discussed in peoples homes around the country. As a filmmaker, I can think of no better ending for Smugglers Ransom.

Just launched a fundraiser for my Indie christian movie. I’ve worked with the likes of Bill Kurtis and Richard Roeper and launched my first Christian themed movie.

Big fan of your website and I hope to find ways to promote this fundraiser and get this motivational film finished.
