Grizzly Adams Productions, Inc. of Loveland, Colorado, has released “The Evidence for Heaven,” an expanded 90-minute Christian VHS/DVD of their PAX-TV special “In Search of Heaven” that aired in September 2004. The DVD includes bonus features, including Bible studies for middle-school-adults, additional expert interviews, near death experience accounts, and a recommended reading list.

We were impressed with the quality of this program which is hosted by evangelical broadcaster and author Jerry Rose (who wrote Deep Faith for Dark Valleys). The film includes several leading evangelicals: J. P. Moreland, J. I. Packer, Ron Rhodes, R. C. Sproul, Hank Hanegraaff and Elmer Towns. Included are interviews with 21 medical doctors, physicists, biblical scholars, authors and scientists. Other named commentators are Cardiologist Michael Sabom, M.D.; Pediatric Neuroscientist Melvin Morse, M.D.; Raymond Moody, M.D., Ph.D.; Quantum Physicist Dr. Fred Alan Wolf, Psychology Professor Emeritus Kenneth Ring, and T. Lee Baumann, M.D., Dr. Timothy Sheets, Ralph Muncaster, and Keith Harris.

Among a growing group of scientists who seem to be accepting of the notion of an eternal spirit is Dr. Stephen Hawking, widely regarded as the most brilliant scientific mind of this age. In what many regard as a complete turnabout, Dr. Hawking writes, It would be very difficult to explain why the universe should have begun.except as the act of a God who intended to create beings like us. The whole history of the universe can be said to be the work of God.

This production attempts to aid viewers in deciding for themselves if life continues in a spiritual realm after physical deathand whether Heaven actually exists. It examines the ancient biblical view of death in light of new scientific evidence, biblical accounts, and several personal experiences. Included is a 25-year project that concluded, For the first time in 8,000 years of recorded history, it can now be said with certainty that our mind, memory, and personality and soul will survive physical death. The film mentions certain Near Death Experiences (NED) with visions of a bright light-being who they believe to be Jesus.

The DVD is being distributed by FaithWorks.
