Advent Film Group

To jumpstart screenwriting careers, Advent Film Group (AFG) will give top treatment authors competing at the 2007 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF) the opportunity to have their treatment developed into an AFG feature film production in 2008. SAICFFs fourth annual festival runs from October 25-27, 2007 at the Gonzales Convention Center. Its companion Christian Film Academy begins earlier on October 22-24 at the Marriott Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.

Ex-Discovery executive and AFI producing fellow, George Escobar launched AFG to train students who will one day direct big-budget films with moral integrity.

We strongly endorse SAICFFs storytelling approach, Escobar explains. By offering to develop an award- winning SAICFF treatment from page-to-script-to- screen, we can strengthen AFGs film program beyond the production techniques we taught to over 30 students during our first feature film, Come What May, now in post-production. By working with new authors, we hope to launch their careers as screenwriters.

Advents goal of rebuilding culture for Christ using an army of homeschoolers has energized the Christian community. The company is reviewing offers of distribution, investments, and is presenting AFGs unique film perspective to businesses and groups, most recently to Christians at AOLs headquarters in VA. AFG has been invited to bring its new Cinema Workshop to various homeschool state conferences in 2008. The two-part workshop covers: a) The Failure of Christians in Cinema and How to Fix It; b) Training the Next Generation of Christian Directors.

Homeschooling students and parents, dismayed by Hollywoods usurping faith-based and family-friendly movies to make audiences feel good while rejecting Biblical foundations, have responded powerfully to the opportunity of joining AFGs productions as donors and volunteers.

Advent is gaining a reputation for producing movies that protects a students Christian walk, promotes a Biblical worldview, and provides a professional path for students (especially homeschoolers) to rebuild culture for Christ through cinema, Escobar explains.

At AFG, students learn that filmmakers are held accountable for their movies.

Its akin to the warning in Scripture for those who would teach or preach, clarifies Escobar, that they should not lead others astray from Christ in the stories they tell.

Advent Film Group is a film production and distribution company founded in 2007 by Christian filmmakers. It champions the mission and vision of Patrick Henry College and other like-minded organizations to shape culture through media. AFG productions will uphold the Biblical values that define Americas founding. Visit adventfilmgroup.com.

One Response to “Advent Film Group to develop top treatments by students for feature films production in 2008”

  1. Paul Jackson Says:

I love your films! It is encouraging to me that you can produce such a powerful films on such a shoestring budget.
I have written several Christian dramas, and now am going to have 2 novels published soon. One of them is Christian out-rightly, the other is more like one of the Chronicles of Narnia.
My question is, would you be interested in a treatment of the screen play? I am in the process of making it a stage play now, but it would not take much tweaking to make it into s screen play.
The book is titled, Do I Trust You, and is about 2 girls journey to see if they can trust God for their lives, as well as their souls.
