Produced by non-Christians who came from a Christian background, SAVED! is a self-described “subversive” teen comedy-drama starring such outstanding actors as Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember; The Princess Diaries), Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone) and Jena Malone (Cold Mountain).
The story is set in a Baptist Christian high school and takes aim at “fundamentalist” Christians. The story presents the filmmakers’ take on evangelism, “intolerance,” hypocrisy, a multitude of sins (among professing Christian students, leaders, and parents), homosexuality, and more.
The film opened in U.S. theaters on May 28, 2004.
